On March 19, 2018, while inmate Jordan Arnold was attempting to close his cell door, Corrections Officer Cody Richardson became frustrated and, without warning, used a Taser on Arnold multiple times, including while Arnold was on the ground. Other officers present did not intervene or provide medical assistance. Arnold suffered severe pain and emotional distress. A lawsuit was filed against Richardson and the RPSO, alleging excessive force, cruel and unusual punishment, and deliberate indifference to medical needs. The case is ongoing.
