In January 2023, Officer Auderer was recorded making insensitive comments and laughing about the death of 23-year-old Jaahnavi Kandula, who was struck and killed by a police cruiser. He referred to her as ‘a regular person’ and stated, ‘she had limited value.’ Following an investigation, Auderer was terminated in July 2024 for unprofessional conduct. In August 2024, he filed a $20 million tort claim against the city, alleging wrongful termination and harm to his reputation.
