    In May 2017, Officer Daniel Steere stole over $2,000 from the Manchester Police Department’s evidence room. The theft was discovered in March 2018, leading to an investigation by the Vermont State Police. Steere was charged with grand larceny and pleaded guilty, receiving a suspended sentence and four years of probation. He was also prohibited from working as a law enforcement officer. Steere was placed on administrative leave during the investigation and subsequently terminated from the Manchester Police Department.
