Officer Ghi has a history of policy violations, complaints, and lawsuits. In October 2016, he arrested two 17-year-olds at Northwoods Mall for trespassing; the charges were later dismissed, and a civil lawsuit alleging racial discrimination was settled with each teen receiving $62,500. In October 2017, Ghi arrested a 17-year-old playing basketball in front of his house, leading to a lawsuit settled for $40,000. In April 2025, Ghi was involved in the forceful arrest of a 13-year-old selling palmetto roses, sparking public outcry and an internal investigation.
