In January 2016, Deputy Turner, a 15-year veteran, was caught on surveillance video using excessive force on an inmate. The footage showed him pinning the inmate onto a metal table by his neck and striking him in the face. Turner claimed the inmate provoked him with racial slurs and threats. However, the department determined that Turner unnecessarily escalated the situation and used force without justification. He was terminated in January 2017 for this misconduct.
