In 2023, the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles was found to have discriminated against Inspector David D’Ancicco based on his age. The Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities concluded there was reasonable cause to believe that D’Ancicco faced age discrimination, including being denied promotions and subjected to different terms and conditions of employment compared to his younger peers. Specific incidents included being passed over for promotions in favor of significantly younger candidates and being reassigned to less favorable work areas. The case is pending a hearing to determine any monetary awards.

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
