In August 2023, Officer David Don Watson, Jr. was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. The incident did not involve a student from the school where he served as a School Resource Officer. Following his arrest by the Mount Pleasant Police Department, Watson was terminated from the North Charleston Police Department.
