In 1987, photographer David W. Connell filed a lawsuit against the Town of Hudson and its police department, alleging violations of his First and Fourth Amendment rights. Connell claimed that Hudson police officers, including then-Acting Chief Albert Brackett, unlawfully prevented him from photographing an accident scene, threatened him with arrest, and forced him to leave the area under protest. The court found that Connell’s allegations raised significant constitutional questions regarding the actions of the Hudson police officers.
