Detective Zickel was terminated in April 2024 after allegedly being untruthful during an investigation into financial misconduct within the Overland Park Police Officer’s Foundation. He had reported misuse of funds by fellow officers but was later found to have not audited the foundation’s books as required. Zickel has appealed his termination.
