In April 2005, Chief Dee Rowland resigned following recommendations for disciplinary action due to his handling of a child sex-abuse case. The city attorney’s report criticized Rowland for inappropriate actions during incidents on April 10 and December 22, 2004, including a confrontation with Bikers Against Child Abuse and a contentious meeting with the victim’s mother. Rowland stated he was unaware of the disciplinary recommendation at the time of his resignation.
