In September 2019, as a correctional officer, Grant participated in the unjustified beating of detainee Jarius Brown during a strip search, alongside officer Javarrea Pouncy. Brown sustained serious injuries, including a broken eye socket and nose. Grant admitted to obstructing justice by falsifying reports to conceal the assault. He pled guilty to obstruction of justice in September 2023 and was sentenced to ten months in federal prison in October 2024.
