From approximately 2007 through 2011, Officer Dennis Spaulding engaged in a pattern of civil rights violations, including unlawful arrests, excessive force, and illegal searches targeting Latino community members. Specific incidents include the November 2008 excessive force against an individual in a restaurant parking lot, and the February 2009 false arrest of a Catholic priest advocating for Latinos. Spaulding was convicted on multiple counts, including conspiracy against rights and use of unreasonable force, and was sentenced to 60 months in prison on January 23, 2014.
