Former Lieutenant Dennis Stone, who served as the union president, was indicted on January 30, 2023, on three counts of embezzlement over one hundred dollars and six counts of filing false tax returns. The charges stem from allegations that Stone embezzled funds from the North Providence Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police for personal use, including meals at restaurants and various retail purchases. Additionally, he is accused of failing to disclose and pay taxes on income received as a part-time waiter at Twin Oaks restaurant in Cranston. Stone retired from the department on January 24, 2023.
