Deputy Aaron Shepard filed a federal lawsuit in 2023 alleging religious discrimination and harassment after leaving Grace City Church in 2016. He claimed that from 2016 to 2022, he faced bullying, denial of promotions, and attempts to blacklist him from law enforcement due to his departure from the church. The lawsuit was settled in 2024 for $250,000.
