In November 2019, Deputy Aaron Williams conducted a traffic stop on John and Sandra Corbin. During the stop, Sandra exited the vehicle against instructions. Deputy Williams performed a leg sweep, causing her to fall and fracture her leg. Sandra required multiple surgeries, including a total knee replacement. A federal lawsuit was filed in June 2022, alleging excessive force and violation of her Fourth Amendment rights. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office declined to comment on the pending litigation.
