Deputy Andrew Richmond reported Sergeant Jeff Thurman’s racist comments to his supervisors. Following his report, Richmond alleged that he faced discrimination and retaliation within the department, leading to a hostile work environment. In July 2019, Richmond resigned from the Sheriff’s Office and filed a lawsuit claiming racial discrimination and retaliation. The lawsuit is ongoing.
