Deputy Matarazzo was involved in an incident in April 2020 where he and other officers attempted to seize a man’s phone without a warrant in a hospital room. The man, CJ Andersen, was tased twice during the altercation. Andersen filed a lawsuit against Matarazzo, Teller County, and other officers, alleging excessive force and unlawful seizure. Matarazzo is no longer employed with the sheriff’s office as of March 2025.
