In 2022, Deputy Ringberg was investigated for falsifying records to claim $11,622 in overtime pay from the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) without proper documentation. He resigned during the investigation and was later arrested on charges of forgery, theft of property, and tampering with public records. In October 2024, Ringberg pleaded guilty to these charges, was sentenced to four years unsupervised probation, and ordered to pay $13,062.36 in fines and restitution.
