    In January 2024, Deputy Holzer was named in a federal civil rights lawsuit filed by Tristan Kirk Assance, alleging violations of the Fourth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments. The lawsuit claims that during a 2021 incident, Holzer fired four shots from an AR-15 rifle at Assance, striking him twice, after allegedly mistaking the sound of a Taser for gunfire. The suit seeks compensatory and punitive damages for permanent injuries and emotional distress resulting from the shooting.
