In August 2022, Deputy Daniels responded to a disturbance call involving Kelly Crawford. During the encounter, Daniels allegedly used excessive force, including deploying a taser, punching Crawford multiple times in the face, and using pepper spray while she was handcuffed. Crawford sustained severe facial fractures and other injuries. A federal lawsuit filed in August 2023 accuses Daniels of excessive force, assault, and battery. Daniels has reportedly acknowledged striking detainees at least 25 times in the last two years.
