In 2017, Deputy Johnson was accused of forcing a woman to perform oral sex on him under the threat of arresting her boyfriend if she refused. Johnson was fired following the accusation and later pleaded guilty to misconduct in office, receiving probation and community service. The victim received a $350,000 settlement from the South Carolina Insurance Reserve Fund.
