In December 2016, Deputy Donahoe arrested Michael Walker for legally open-carrying a firearm, resulting in Walker spending a weekend in jail without seizure medication. Walker was acquitted, and a subsequent lawsuit alleges Donahoe admitted to targeting lawful gun owners, violating constitutional rights. The case is ongoing as of 2024.
