In July 2022, Deputy Hansen was involved in an incident where a 20-year-old man, Jordan Rivero, was repeatedly tased after a traumatic car accident. Rivero filed a federal lawsuit alleging excessive force, claiming he was tased four times within one minute while disoriented from the crash. The lawsuit is ongoing as of March 2025.
