On October 4, 2023, during the arrest of an individual who had surrendered with hands up, Deputy Housam released his police canine, resulting in injuries to the individual’s right arm, lower back, and buttocks. The individual filed a lawsuit alleging excessive force in violation of the Eighth Amendment. The case is currently pending.
