On May 17, 2016, Deputy Bryant was involved in an altercation with an inmate at the Leon County Jail. The inmate alleged that Bryant used excessive force, including choking and pepper-spraying him without provocation. The inmate filed a lawsuit alleging civil rights violations, but the court granted summary judgment in favor of Bryant, concluding that the force used was not excessive.
