In 2016, Deputy Jeff Coey was named in a lawsuit alleging unreasonable search practices. The plaintiff, Ricky Soper, claimed that during a search of his home, officers, including Coey, used a grenade and caused property damage, violating the Fourth Amendment. The court allowed the case to proceed against Coey and other officers.
