In 2017, Deputy Szalajeski was accused of stealing drugs during traffic stops and providing them to his addicted girlfriend. He also allegedly used Sheriff’s Office resources to investigate men he suspected she was seeing. Szalajeski was indicted and pleaded guilty to two counts of malfeasance and two counts of possession with intent to distribute narcotics.
