Deputy Randy Comeaux, a detective in the Juvenile Division, was arrested in 1998 after DNA evidence linked him to multiple rapes committed between 1986 and 1995. He confessed to several rapes, including five in Lafayette Parish. Prior to his arrest, an internal investigation in 1992 into allegations of physical abuse by his ex-girlfriend was deemed inconclusive, and no action was taken.
