In October 1998, Deputy Sewell was charged with third-degree assault related to a domestic disturbance; the charges were dismissed in January 1999. A lawsuit was filed against Houston County and Sheriff Glover, alleging insufficient training and supervision of Deputy Sewell. The court granted summary judgment in favor of the defendants, concluding there was insufficient evidence to hold them liable for Sewell’s actions.
