In 1992, Deputy Sheriff Bost allowed a detainee with a known history of violent and sexually deviant behavior to leave the Fulton County Detention Center unsupervised. The detainee subsequently assaulted a woman. A lawsuit was filed against Deputy Bost and the Sheriff’s Office, alleging negligence and violation of the victim’s constitutional rights. The court found that Bost’s actions could be seen as reckless, potentially leading to liability under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
