In January 2018, Officer Kemp, as part of a team led by Undersheriff Michael Munk, attempted to search the Mooney family’s property in Fence Lake, NM, without a warrant. The officers’ actions, including blocking the property’s only exit and claiming to be stuck in minimal snow, have been cited in petitions alleging harassment and abuse of power by the Cibola County Sheriff’s Department.
