In January 2015, Deputy Blevins was involved in an incident where he allegedly failed to properly secure evidence at a motor vehicle accident scene. Following a critical report by Assistant Fire Chief James A. Johnson, Blevins and another officer confronted Johnson at his home in a threatening manner. In April 2016, at another accident scene, Blevins tased Johnson multiple times and subsequently had him arrested. Johnson filed a federal lawsuit alleging civil rights violations, battery, and negligence.
