In January 2018, Detective Wadford, along with Undersheriff Michael Munk and other officers, attempted to conduct a warrantless search of the Mooney family’s property in Fence Lake, NM. The officers claimed to be introducing themselves to the community but were met with resistance when the property owners declined the unlawful search. This incident has been highlighted in petitions alleging police misconduct and abuse of power within the Cibola County Sheriff’s Department.
