In June 2023, Deputy Trevor James Kirk was recorded violently tackling and pepper-spraying a woman who was filming an arrest outside a supermarket in Lancaster. Kirk attempted to seize her phone, and when she turned away, he threw her face-first to the ground. The incident was captured on body-cam and bystander footage. Kirk was found guilty of using excessive force in February 2025 and faces up to 10 years in federal prison, with sentencing scheduled for April 21. He has been relieved from duty without pay.
