In February 2008, Deputy Van Meter responded to a call from Mr. Conachen, who had reported speeding vehicles. Upon arrival, Van Meter allegedly entered Conachen’s property without consent and used a Taser on him while he was lying face down in the snow. Conachen filed a lawsuit alleging excessive force and violation of his Fourth Amendment rights. The court found that Van Meter’s actions were lawful, and the case was dismissed.
