In July 2012, officers, including Franklin, responded to a domestic violence call and mistakenly identified 17-year-old DeShawn Franklin as the suspect. They entered his home without a warrant, punched him, and used a stun gun. A federal jury awarded the Franklin family $18 for the violation of their constitutional rights. The officers involved received written reprimands and additional training on Fourth Amendment rights.
