In 2022, a Madison police detective was disciplined for twice ramming another vehicle with his personal car, leading to a criminal disorderly conduct charge later reduced to a traffic citation. The detective received a 10-day suspension with five days held in abeyance. In a letter to Chief Barnes, the detective was notably non-apologetic, stating, ‘I firmly believe that this case was poorly investigated.’
