    In 2022, text messages revealed that Detective Venable and Washington County Deputy District Attorney John Gerhard discussed plans to have a ‘Mexican themed party to celebrate the convictions of Mexican defendants.’ This raised concerns about potential bias against Hispanic individuals. The Hillsboro Police Department stated that they did not believe Venable’s text messages violated any policy.
