Former Deputy Deven Morris resigned in lieu of termination following an investigation into allegations of sexual assault of a minor. The internal investigation revealed sufficient evidence suggesting violations of West Virginia Code 61-8A-2 regarding the distribution of obscene matter to a minor and Code 61-3C-14b concerning the solicitation of a minor via computer. Morris also failed a polygraph examination related to the investigation. Despite these findings, no criminal charges were filed due to conflicting statements from the 15-year-old victim.

Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
