In May 2023, Officer Devin Whitehead was involved in multiple assaults on inmate Jerry Minor. Whitehead allegedly kicked Minor in the head several times and punched him multiple times in the face. These actions resulted in a federal lawsuit filed by Minor, alleging excessive force and civil rights violations. Following the incident, Whitehead was terminated for excessive force by Sheriff Joe Hamilton.
