In 2009, Teresa Adams, Director of Administration, was federally indicted alongside Sheriff Charles ‘Charlie’ W. Morris for conspiracy to commit theft, money laundering, and wire fraud. They created fictitious bonuses for employees, who were then directed to return the funds under the pretense of charitable donations. Adams was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison and received 20 years of probation for state charges.
