Between April 2019 and December 2020, the Ann Arbor Police Department received 43 police misconduct complaints. Disciplinary action was taken by the AAPD in only one case. Typical punishments ranged from administrative leave to internal investigations, with few resulting in formal disciplinary actions. Use-of-force incidents, such as the fatal shooting of Aura Rosser in 2014, have led to community protests and calls for increased transparency.
