Detective Duff Brumley was terminated in 2010 after conducting an unauthorized investigation into a superior’s alleged prescription drug abuse. He was accused of misusing the Criminal Justice Portal to obtain personal information and sharing it with a pharmacist. Brumley filed a lawsuit claiming wrongful termination, and in 2015, the Tennessee Court of Appeals ruled in his favor, remanding the case for further proceedings.
