    On March 3, 2024, Officer Eduardo Garcia was involved in an off-duty crash on Main Street in Willimantic. Investigations revealed he had a blood alcohol content of 0.21% and was driving at speeds between 98 to 107 miles per hour. Garcia initially fled the scene and later admitted to drinking at a bar that night, stating he did not remember the crash. He was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, and evading responsibility. Following the incident, Garcia was placed on administrative leave and released on a $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 9, 2024.
