In October 2021, Sheriff Diggins was accused of unprofessional and verbally abusive behavior towards Deputy Spencer Haswell following the memorial service of a fallen deputy. Haswell alleged that Diggins was visibly upset and attempted to assert power over him. However, an internal affairs investigation exonerated Diggins, finding no evidence of abusive behavior and noting that other witnesses reported Diggins appeared to comfort Haswell during the incident.
