In November 2016, Deputy Eric Brown participated in the arrest of Millard Jerome Strickland Jr., during which Strickland was tased multiple times. Strickland filed a lawsuit alleging excessive force, stating he was tased 13 times, but body camera footage showed at least 17 taser deployments. The case, Strickland v. Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, was reviewed in 2021, highlighting differences between the plaintiff’s allegations and the video evidence.
