In November 2021, Officer Gary Lee Powers was arrested and charged with unlawful restraint and domestic assault. His girlfriend reported that Powers aggressively charged at her, pointed his gun at a dog, and threatened to kill her and harm himself if she left him. Following the charges, Powers was placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
