In 2013, Deputy George Rioux resigned from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office after falsifying a sworn statement by signing another officer’s name without consent. He later faced allegations of making unwanted sexual advances toward an acquaintance in his patrol car while employed at the Port Royal Police Department in December 2014.
