In May 2023, the Appellate Division, Third Department, upheld the termination of Sergeant Gerald Minckler for multiple incidents of sexual harassment. Testimonies revealed that Minckler, while appearing intoxicated and armed, grabbed a female deputy’s breast, made inappropriate comments, and threatened her. Another deputy testified that Minckler made unwanted physical advances and sexually explicit remarks. Both deputies feared retaliation, leading to delayed reporting. The court found substantial evidence supporting the charges and deemed the termination appropriate.
