In July 2021, while employed at the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, Hildebrandt violated the department’s use of force policy by allegedly choking an inmate and smashing his face into a glass window. He was terminated a month later. Subsequently, in July 2022, while working for the Travelers Rest Police Department, Hildebrandt was accused of sexually assaulting a woman while on duty. He was arrested in April 2023 and charged with misconduct in office and third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
